Description:

Species Description - Erect, caespitose perennials 0.5-1 m tall. Leaves: blade 12-20 X 4-7 cm, elliptical to ovate-lanceolate, tessellate. Inflorescences 9-22 cm long, with stout, ascending branches. Spikelets 8.5-10 mm long, ovate-lanceolate, often flushed with purple; upper floret 6-7.5 mm long, ovate-lanceolate, borne on a stout, curving stipe 1—1.5 mm long and bearing a pair of lanceolate, winged appendages 4-5.5 mm long and appressed to margins of upper lemma, which is pubescent with appressed silky hairs on margins near apex and on lower part of back.

Distribution and Ecology - Fl (Jan, May, Jun, mostly Jul-Nov), fr (Jan, Jun-Aug); frequent, in forest shade and in gaps. Riz-chien.
