Description:
Species Description - Plants often cinereous. Leaves 60-90 cm long; sheath ovate about 20 cm long, sparsely serrate toward apex; blade rigid-coriaceous, narrowly triangular or strap-shaped, 7.5-9 cm wide, sparsely or subdensely serrate, attenuate and sharp pointed, densely lepidote. Inflorescences 60-90 cm long, 1-branched, with 7-13 lateral branches, the flowers congested the fertile part subcylindric, green or yellow-green, the peduncle prominent, erect, 50-70 cm long, the branches (stipitate heads) very denselt and polystichuously 3-10 flowered. ovoid or globose, 3-4.5 X 1.5-2.5(3) cm, the floral bracts finely carinate, broadly ovate, including apiculus about 2.5 cm long, entire, pinkish, sparsely lepidote or glabrescent abaxially. Flowers contiguous, sessile, densely fasciculate; pals strongly asymmetrical, 1.4 cm long; petals yellowish green.
Distribution and Ecology - Fl (Sep), fr (May); common epiphyte in large trees.
