Description:
Species Description - Perennial herb; flowering culms 10-50(-100) dm tall, erect, moderately branched. Leaf sheaths glabrous or hairy; ligule (1.6-) 2-3(-3.7) mm long; blades broadly to narrowly lanceolate, flat, (5-)7-14(-17) x (0.6-)1.0-2.2(-3.4) cm, scabrous, glabrous, or hairy on the upper surface. Inflorescence ovate; main axis 2-17(-21) cm long; primary branches 1-8 cm long, reflexed to spreading. Spikelets solitary, obovoid, (3-)3.2-3.8(-4.1) x 1.7-2.4 mm; lower glume 0.7-2(-2.3) mm long, 7-11-nerved; upper glume 2.7-3.5 mm long, 9-11-nerved; lemma of lower floret obovate, 9-11-nerved, muticous, the palea fully developed; lemma of upper floret obovate, indurate, smooth, brown, 2.8-3.1 (-3.5) mm long, muticous.
