Description:

Species Description - Tree. Leaves alternate or in short whorls at ends of twigs, to 20-32 cm long. Petiole bearing an orbicular or elliptical gland on upper side at or just above base. Pinnae 9-20 pairs, opposite or subopposite. Leaflets ca. 30-55 pairs, opposite, narrowly oblong, 3-10 x 0.5-2 mm, apex rounded or obtuse; main nerve straight at apex. Compound inflorescence axis distal to leaves, erect, projecting beyond foliage, much branched, to 30-45 cm long. Peduncles to 15 per inflorescence branch, alternate, 0.4-1.0 cm long. Capitula 1-1.8 cm diam. Hermaphrodite flowers: calyx funnel-shaped, 2.5-4 mm long (including pseudopedicel of 0.5 mm), the lobes ca. 0.5 mm long; corolla 3-5 mm long, the lobes ca. 1 mm long, united in middle and free at base, readily dividing into lobes 2-4 mm long; filaments exserted 3.5-6 mm beyond calyx, united for 1-1.5 mm at base. Pods strap-shaped or lingulate, sometimes curved, 9-36 (including stipe of 1-2.5 cm) x 3-4.7 cm, the sutures scarcely thickened and the somewhat coriaceous, velutinous or subglabrous valves dehiscent along adaxial suture and at least sometimes tardily so along abaxial one, shallowly corrugated. Seeds to 24 per pod, ca. 11-18 x 5-12 x 4-5 mm; testa black.
