Description:
Species Description - Glabrous tree 3-7 m tall. Branchlets slender, subterete, rugulose by numerous linear longitudinally arranged lenticel-like tubercles, reddish-purplish when dry. Leaves elliptic, oblong, or oblong-lanceolate, apex broadly attenuate, tip subacute or usually blunt, sometimes rounded or even slightly emarginate, base cuneate, subcoriaceous to coriaceous, shiny, greenish-yellowish above, paler (glaucescent) and dull beneath both in the fresh and dry state, not wrinkled or tuberculate, edge a little revolute, laticifers hardly or not visible beneath, 6-10(-11.5) x (2.5-)3-4 cm, midrib plane or slightly immersed above, prominent beneath, lateral nerves 8-10 pairs with a few less obvious shorter ones beneath, all nerves slightly raised or obscure above, a little prominent beneath, reticulation of veins and veinlets faint above, or usually inconspicuous on both surfaces; petiole longitidinally striate and more or less distinctly transversely rugulose, (4-)5-8 x 1.5 mm. Flowers (Wurdack & Adderley 43017) few per axillary multibracteolate cluster; pedicels 1-1.5 mm long. Calyx deeply 5-lobed, lobes ovate-lanceolate, with a distinct apical gland, 1.5 mm long. Petals lanceolate-oblong, white, hairy inside, 2.5 mm long. Stamens 10; filaments filiform. Ovary thickened at base, 10-sulcate. Drupe globular, smooth, pale yellow-green, 7(-9) mm diam. Fruit-calyx cup-like, thin-chartaceous, red, plicately 5-lobed halfway, erect and hiding the drupe, expanded 1.2-1.5 cm diam., lobes deltoid, (sub)acute; peduncle ca. 3 mm long.
