Latin Diagnosis - Arbor glabra 5-10(-25) m alta. Ramuli robustiores, teretes. Folia elliptica vel oblongo-, interdum subovato-elliptica, apice breviter sat abrupte per 1 cm longe acuminata, ipso apice obtusa, basi rotundata, subcoriacea, firma, in sicco brunnea et sat opaca, utrinque dense tuberculata, parce i.e. haud proprie rugosula, vasis laticiferis inconspicuis, margine vix revoluta, 10-17(-23) x 4.5-7(-12) cm, costa supra plana vel levissime immersa, subtus valde prominente, nervis lateralibus 7-8(-10)-paribus modice curvatis ante marginem excurrentibus, supra planis, subtus parum elevatis, reticulo venarum venularumque supra nullo, subtus in-conspicuo; petioli in tertio superiore paullo incrassati, rugulosi, 1.2-1.7(-2) cm longi, 1.5-2 mm crassi. Flores (Madison 4787) in gemmae statu tantum visi, 1 vel 2 ex glomerulis axillaribus multibracteolatis parvis orti; pedicelli graciles 23 mm longi. Calyx patellaris, minutus, breviter 5-lobus, lobis glandula apicali instructis. Petala 5, ovato-lanceolata, glabra, 2 mm longa. Stamina 5, aequilonga anteque calycis lobos posita. Ovarium cum disco camoso connatum; stylus brevis, subtrilobus. Drupa late ellipsoidea, apice basique truncata, ipso apice levissime rotundato-depressa, viridis, deinde (etiam in sicco) nigrescens, nitida, laxe obtuse tuberculata, ca. 2.2 cm longa, 1.3-1.8 cm diam.; endocarpium durum, ca. 1 mm crassum. Calyx fructiferus aperte cupulatus, denique patens vel reflexus, coriaceus, in sicco fragilis, leviter obtuseque 5-sinuato-lobatus, aurantiacus vel saturate ruber, expansus (2-)2.5-3(-4) cm diam.; pedunculus apicem versus manifeste incrassatus, 1.5(-2) cm longus.
