Description:

Description - Plant caulescent, flowering 3-5 dm long. Leaves densely imbricate along the stem, polystichous, 2 dm long, densely tomentose-lepidote; sheaths distinct, triangular-ovate; blades spreading, linear, filiform-attenuate, 4 mm wide, cinereous. Scape erect, much exceeding the leaves, slender; scape-bracts imbricate, involute, broadly ovate, filiform-laminate, reddish. Inflorescence densely digitate from about 5 spikes; primary bracts like the scape-bracts, much shorter than the spikes; spikes sessile, lanceolate, 45 mm long, 12 mm wide, complanate, densely 7-flowered. Floral bracts imbricate, lanceolate, acute, about equaling the sepals, carinate, thin, nerved, soon glabrous, red and green or roseate. Sepals free, lanceolate, 10 mm long, the posterior carinate; petals tubular-erect, 20-25 mm long, white with a blue band below the apex; stamens included; filaments plicate; style elongate.
