Location:

Ecuador. Zamora Chinchipe. Yantzaza (Canton). Cordillera del Cóndor region. One km north of Río Machinaza at Las Peñas. "Fruta del Norte"concession of Aurelian mine company. Alt. 1640m. (5381 ft.)

Description:

Tree 7 m tall, with trunk 20 cm DBH. Foliage not very strongly aromatic compared to most Burseraceae. Leaf rachis oriented horizotally on horizontal branches; leaflets oriented upwards, sub-erect. Leaflets rather thick and sclerophyllous. Fruits elliptic, dark green; maturing fruits suffused dark reddshi. Only one individual seen at this site.

Habitat:

Dense wet cloud forest. on thin layer of sandy soil atop sandstone, with a thick mat of humus and tree roots.
