Description:

seedling. Seedling of Daly et al. 11909. Germination cryptocotylar and hypogeal, first eophylls opposite and trifoliate. Common around base of mother tree, sometimes more than one seed germinating per fruit.

Habitat:

"Baixo": low-lying area, much of it periodically swamped by overflow of many streams. Canopy mostly closed, few palms or broad-leaved monocots in this area. Many ferns, also slender trees, shrubs, lianas. Occasional.
