Description:

Terrestrial suffrutescent herb, to 1 m tall. Abaxial leaf surface red. Rhizomes present. Fruits on erect pedicels; in axillary clusters. Fruit a dry capsule with persistent triangular flap-like appendages (see photo of Clark #6593). Note: Clark #6592 with.
