Description:
Common tree in savanna and low forest, this individual ca. 4 m tall, sprawling, the branches hanging over a small stream, trunk cylindrical, ca. 10 cm in diameter, bark purplish brown, flaking in irregular scales, slash with scant red exudate, inflorescences borne on trunk and branches below leaves, inflorescence and flower buds ferriginous, calyx light green within, petal yellow, with purplish venation at base internally, small stamen filaments whitish yellow, large stamen filaments yellowish white, purplish at base, anthers white, gynoecium with stipe silvery white, ovary yellowish cream, style and stigma green, the former purplish at base, ants congregating on inflorescence; SILICA COLLECTION.
