Ecuador. Zamora Chinchipe. El Pangui (Canton). Western slopes of Cordillera del Cóndor. Río Wawaime watershed, tributary of Río Quimi. Proposed future site of EcuaCorriente copper mine. Alt. 1320m. (4331 ft.)

Description:

Tree 10 m tall, 15 cm DBH. Leaflet blades thick and sclerophyllous, rather rigid: the petioles and petiolules also rather stiff and rigid. Drupaceous fruits elliptic, with yellow-green, glossy exocarp and rather thin fleshy mesocarp. This species is locally common on sandstone, and also in other areas of the Cordillera del Cóndor. With students of 4th NSF-supported dendrology course. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.
Habitat:

Ridge with mixed substrate derived from sandstone and granite. Low, dense forest with many sandstone-restricted trees and shrubs.
