Guyana. Cuyuni-Mazaruni. Aruwai Falls, Mazaruni river on river edge below rapids. Alt. 125 m. (410 ft.)

Description:

Tree to 7m tall. Leaves glossy, brittle, becoming red-orange with age. Sticky sap present in stem. Strong order +/- piperaceaeous present in leaves. Flowers borne in clusters, axillary, green except for anthers pinkish; stigma pink.

Habitat:

Mossy rocks, trees with epiphytes overhanging river. Seasonally flooded area with many ferns and mosses.
