Árvore de 20 m de altura. Frutos maduros, escuros. Madeira com cerne castanho e alburno amarelo, dura, pesada. Casca grossa, persistente. Utilizada para fazer tacos e tábuas. Mata virgem de terra firme; solo argiloso.
