Description:
Ca. 1 m tall; internodes 2.5-3.0 cm long, 5.3 cm diam., medium green and moderately glossy; petioles pale maculate and dark-striped toward base, whitish abaxially with fine darker lines more distinctly visible; petioles 21-22 cm long, sheathed except for apical 2-2.5 cm; sheath erect-incurled, one side truncate with square, acute corner, the other side acute (both sides joined); free part of petiole obtusely shallowly and broadly sulcate, the margins obtuse, matte near base, somewhat glossier toward apex; blades moderately coriaceous, dark green and semiglossy above, slightly paler and weakly glossy below, mottled with yellowish white, irregular spots in a band, 4-5 cm on either side of midrib; midrib obtusely flat-raised and concolorous, finely striate above narrowly rounded with whitish medial band and fine striations; primary lateral veins weakly etched-sunken and concolorous above, convex and colorless below; cross-veins weakly visible above; sterile; similar to 85389 with which it grows but this plant is stouter, with thicker stem, more coriaceous blades and petiole more fully sheathed. Both are said to have been locally collected though both are currently cultivated in Vista Alegre.
