Georeferencing Method: Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012 (Unable to find the precise location of "26 km do Igarapé do Jaramacurú" since direction of offset not provided. Unable to find the precise location of "campos de Ariramba;" georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of Rio Jaramacarú (synonymous with Igarapé Ariramba) in Obidos, Pará, in accordance with other locality descriptions (ensuring that the uncertainty radius reflects the 26 km. offset). Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located Rio Jaramacarú, a tributary of Rio Cuminá. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line starting at the mouth of the river (confluence of Rio Jaramacarú and Rio Cuminá) to the approximate source of the river (where two unnamed rivers meet to form Rio Jaramacarú), then halved this distance to approximate the location of the midpoint of the river. Measured to approximately this calculated distance from one extreme of the river toward the center, used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the midpoint of the river, on the adjacent shore. To find the 26 km. offset: input coordinates, linear extent (distance from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of Rio Jaramacarú, 25281.6 m.), measurement error (.1 m.), offset distance (26000 m.), and distance precision (100 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Offset: Offset only, no direction).)
