Venezuela. Mérida. More or less 5 km. from La Azulita along road to Méida. Pasture. Alt. 1450 m. (4757 ft.)

Description:

Tree, more or less 10 m. tall with long crown. Leaves up to 50 cm. long and 14 cm. wide, papery. Smooth, glossy and reticulate on both sides, medium to dark green above, paler beneath. Flowers 20 cm. in diameter. Petals 10 cm. long, 7 cm. wide, white succ.

Specimen Notes: This is an isotype collection of G. macarenensis subsp. paucisperma. It is the basionym for G. paucisperma (now the accepted name).
