Notes:
In neotropical Lecythidaceae, there are often small abaxial punctations that seem to arise from large, isolated stomates (i.e., they are not surrounded by other stomates). These larger stomates seem to get filled with unknown substances. The image of a cross section of a cork wart attached to this definition does not seem to support this theory or may indicate that there are two origins of the punctations seen on the abaxial leaf blade surfaces of some Lecythidaceae. They are more common in some genera than in others but their taxonomic significance has not yet been studied..
