Description: The genus Eschweilera (all species beginning with E. in this cladogram) as circumscribed by Mori and Prance (199) are not monophyletic. They are paraphyletc because they form three distinct clades (i.e., the integrifolia, Tetrapetala, and Parvifolia clades). These three clades are, however, monophyletic.
