Description: Sectioned seeds with funicles surrounded by a contorted yellow aril that covers most of the length of the funicle of Gustavia augusta. The funicle is only visible on the top right hand seed. It is a small, light yellow cord extending from the aril which is surrounded by a yellow, contorted aril.The lines in the middle of the seed separate the cotyledons. There are usually two, but sometimes three (lower right), fleshy cotyledons in the species of this genus. The black seed coat contains the cotyledons and embryo of this species.
