A specialized habitat usually created by living organisms such as trees; e.g., the habitats found within the crown or along the trunk of a tree.
Notes:
Trees provide many microhabitats. For example, a lichen growing in the canopy is adapted to a sunny, dry microhabit and a moss gowing on the base of a tree trunk is adapted to shady and high humidity microhabit. The more microhabits in an ecosystem the more biological diversity there is.
