Description: A medial section of a flower of Couratari guianensis based on Mori et al. 20973 from central French Guiana. This type of section is especially important because it shows the structure of the androecium and reveals a number of characters important for the classification of Lecythidaceae. A medial section is only one of a number of longitudinal sections that can be made.
