Species Description - Much like no. 17 [Vaccinium macrocarpon Aiton]; lvs flat to strongly revolute, ovate or elliptic-ovate, 2–10 mm, commonly acute; fls 1–4 from the axils of the uppermost reduced lvs, forming a terminal cluster; bracteoles red, scale-like, 0.5–1.5(–2) × < 1 mm, borne somewhat above to considerably below the middle of the pedicel; style 3–4 mm; fr 6–12 mm; 2n=24, 48, 72. Bogs; circumboreal, s. to N.J., Pa., O., n. Ind., and Minn. May–July. (Oxycoccus o.; O. palustris; O. quadripetalus)
