Discussion:

4. Vaccinium roraimense N. E. Brown, Trans. Linn. Soc. Lond. Bot. II. 6: 43. 1901. This taxon was described by Brown from collections made on the summit of Mt. Roraima by im Thurn (329 and 333) and by McConnell & Quelch (79, 494, and 642). Topotypical material (Tate 447) from the summit of Mt. Roraima differs from the original description in possessing eglandular bracts and bracteoles, and calyx lobes obtuse to rounded with cUiate pubescence around the outer apex. Also, the transverse subulate appendages on the anthers of the Tate specimen is not indicated in the description of Brown. These divergent or transverse subulate appendages (spurs) at the apex of the dorsal portion of the thecae are characteristic of V. roraimae. as indicated in other collections from the type locality and neighboring areas, of which the following collections may be cited.
