Discussion:

Type. VENEZUELA. Territorio de Amazonas: Cerro de la Neblina, upper slope forest above Camp 4, 1500-1700 m alt, 13 Jan 1954, rechning shrub 1.5-3 m; bracts rose; flowers white, tinted pink; Maguire, Wurdack & Bunting 37254 (holotype NY; isotype US). Paratypes. VENEZUELA. Territorio de Amazonas: Cerro de la Neblina, forest near Cumbre Camp, 1700 m alt, 4 Jan 1954, Maguire, Wurdack & Bunting 37056; Cerro de la Neblina, upper escarpment slopes east of Camp 3, 1700 m alt, 27 Dec 1953, Maguire, Wurdack & Bunting 36949. This taxon is related to C. duidae, from which it is immediately differentiated by the pubescent corollas, calyces, and pedicels, different calyx-lobe and bracteole glands, and the presence of glands on the rachis.
