Family:

Ericaceae
Scientific Name:

Tepuia
Description:

Genus Description - The endemic genus Tepuia contains eight species which are confined, so far as now known, to Chimanta-tepui and Auyan-tepui, adjacent summits of the Chimantá complex. The genus most certainly originated in Guayana, although its relationships are somewhat obscure. Tepuia is rather isolated in the Andromedeae where it is most closely related to Gaultheria and Leucothoe. However, in its tubular anthers, lack of disintegration tissue, and peculiar leaf glands, Tepuia resembles some Vaccinieae.

Discussion:

Recently a review of Tepuia was presented by Steyermark (1967). We here present the Enghsh version of the key of the original study.
