Description:
Variety Description - Inflorescence (8-) 15-25-flowered; rachis (1-)3-8(-13.5) cm long, often continuing to elongate even after lowermost flowers have dropped their corollas; floral bracts 14-28 X 8-18 mm, apically rounded; pedicels 8—11(-16) mm long; bracteoles 2.5-4 mm long. Calyx 5-8.5 mm; limb 2.7-5 mm long; corolla 16-25 mm long and 5-6 mm in diam.; stamens 14-18 mm long.

Discussion:
Distribution and Ecology: Widely distributed from Colombia to Peru, mainly along the eastern foothills of the Andes in open forest, forest edge, river edge, or secondary rain forest areas at elevations of 400-1960 m. Flowering occurs throughout the year; fruiting specimens have been collected in April, June, and November.
