Description:
Type: Ecuador. Loja: nr Loja, between Río Uduchapa and Páramo de Saraguro, 2880 m, Aug (fl), Humboldt & Bonpland s.n. (holotype: P-Humb. & Bonpl., photo F neg. 38233). There is one more sheet of the species collected by Humboldt and Bonpland at P and a fragment ex P at F. However, since these collections are without number, no isotypes are designated.
