Description:
Description: Pendent, epiphytic shrub to 2 m; mature branches terete, glabrous, gray; bark cracking longitudinally; immature branches and twigs of new growth subterete, flexuous, hispidulous becoming glabrate, reddish-brown. Leaves distichous, ovate, (2.5-)4-4.5 x 1.5-2.5 cm, basally rounded or obtuse, apically acuminate, mucronulate, somewhat rugulose on both surfaces, weakly scattered pilose on both surfaces; obscurely 3(-5) plinerved, midrib slightly impressed above and raised beneath, entire lamina somewhat concave-revolute and "hiding" the inflorescence; petioles terete, rugose, 1.5-2(-4) mm long, hirtellous. Inflorescence axillary, short-racemose, 1-3 flowered; rachis terete, hispidulous, to ca. 5 mm long; floral bracts minute, subulate, ca. 1 mm long; pedicels terete, slightly thickened distally, hispidulous, 6.5-9 mm long; bracteoles subulate, hispidulous, ca. 1 mm long. Flowers with calyx pilose, ca. 4 mm long; hypanthium hemispheric, bluntly 5-angled basally, ca. 2.5 mm long; limb including the inconspicuous lobes slightly spreading, ca. 1.5 mm long and 5 mm diam; sinuses flat; corolla cylindric, slightly inflated basally, 8-10 mm long and ca. 4 mm in basal diam, glabrous, the lobes oblong, obtuse, ca. 1.5 mm long, pilose, reflexed at anthesis to expose stamens and style; stamens 10, equal; filaments 4-5 mm long, marginally pilose; anthers including tubules ca. 5 mm long; thecae ca. 2 mm long; style terete, ca. 9 mm long; disc annular, pulvinate, glabrous. Fruit not seen.
Distribution: Endemic to Colombia and known only from the type.
Type: Colombia. Huila: 23 km from Altamira, towards Florencia, virgin cloud forest slopes, 2270 m, 15 Jan 1976, Luteyn et al. 4876 (holotype, COL; isotypes, F, GH, L, NY, US).
