Description:

Description: Shrub 0.3-1.5 m tall with stems to 1.5 cm diam.; indumentum canescent to ferruginous- or reddish-tomentose. Leaves ovate, oblong, elliptic-ovate to elliptic, apex acute to obtuse, rarely rounded. Pedicels (5-)6-8(-10) mm long; bracteoles (2-)3-4(-5) mm long; floral bracts (4-)6-10(-12) mm long.

Distribution: Endemic to SE Brazil at elevations of (950-)1600-2250(-2450) m. Apparently locally abundant on rocky hills, in montane forest or scrub, moist valleys, "barancos," and "campo limpio."
