Description:
Description: Epiphytic shrub; mature branches terete, striate, glabrate; twigs hispid with brownish hairs to 2.2 mm long. Leaves elliptic to ovate-elliptic, (5-)11-17 x (1.5-) 3.5-7 cm, basally rounded, apically abruptly short-caudate, sparsely hispid and glandular-fimbriate on both surfaces; 5(-7)-plinerved from base, midrib impressed above and raised beneath, inner pair of secondary nerves plane or slightly compressed above and raised beneath, remaining secondary nerves and reticulate veinlets slightly raised but inconspicuous on both surfaces; petioles terete, rugose, hispid, 4-8 mm long and 1-2 mm in diam. Inflorescence ca. 20-30-flowered, encircled at base by numerous, subcoriaceous, striate, oblong to ovate, emarginate bracts to 15 mm long; rachis subterete, sparsely hispid, ca. 8-10 cm long and ca. 3 mm in basal diam.; floral bracts membranaceous, venation reticulate and conspicuous, obovate, glandular-fimbriate on both surfaces, glabrous or ciliate, those bracts of the lower half of inflorescence subtending sterile nodes 30-35 x 25 mm, apically emarginate, those of the upper half similar but subtending fertile nodes and 15 mm broad, "pale greenish-white"; pedicels terete, glabrous, 5-5.5 mm long and ca. 1 mm in diam.; bracteoles membranaceous, oblanceolate, apically emarginate ca. 8 mm long and 3 mm broad at distal tip, ciliate and also with scattered glandular fimbriae dorsally. Flowers: calyx glabrous (except the ciliate lobes), 30-33 mm long; hypanthium cylindric, 3-4 mm long; limb membranaceous, infundibuliform, 27-30 mm long, densely glandular-fimbriate, conspicuously veined, the venation free-ending; lobes narrowly imbriacate, oblong-obovate, 13-14 mm long and 8-9 mm broad across the top, apically rounded, emarginate and obscurely callose-apiculate, ciliate or not; sinuses acute; corolla cylindric, glabrous, 36-37 mm long and 7-8 mm in diam., lobes triangular, obtuse, ca. 1.5 mm long; stamens alternately 15-15.5 mm and 14-14.5 mm long; filaments glabrous, alternately 2 mm and 4.2-4.7 mm long; anthers alternately 13-13.3 mm and 11.5 mm long; thecae slightly granular, 4.6 mm long; tubules dehiscing by short, oval, oblique pores, 0.7-1.4 mm long; style ca. 36 mm long. Berry not seen.
Distribution: Endemic to Colombia and known only from the type collection.
