Description:

erect shrub to 1 m tall. young, unfolding leaves covered with rusty-red hairs, as new twigs; mature stems & leaves w/dark brown to blackish hairs.
Habitat:

montane cloud forest. common.

Collection Notes: floral bracts green suffused with red, as are pedicels and calyx; corolles white suffused with pink; leaves hard coriaceous, somewhat bullate; margins revolute
