Panama. Chiriquí. Fortuna Dam area, side road that begins ca. 0.5 km from continental divide to the W and parallel to the road to Chiriquí Grande (oil pipeline road) and to 4 km N of summit. Alt. 800 - 900 m. (2625 - 2953 ft.)

Description:

Terrestrial shrub, ca. 1 m tall. Leaves and stems with wintergreen odor when cut. Floral bracts rose-red. Corolla bright, dark red in basal 3/4, but white in distal 1/4. Common.

Habitat:

Disturbed roadsides. Common.
