Description:

Erect shrub, 2 to 3 metres high. Wood rather hard, and whitish; bark grey; branches suberect, quite numerous; leaves chartaceous, light green on the upper side, pellucid yellowish green beneath, margins usually curved upon the lower side, flowers red, few and scattering, easily falling; the dry dehiscent capsule usually persistent.
