Description:

terrestrial or epiphytic shrub rooted in thick moss and humus soils. floral bracts red; pedicels and calyx pink to red; corolla red lower1/2, white upper 1/2 or sometimes tinged with pink.
Habitat:

subpáramo forest below páramo cañada, with predominence of melastometrees ca. 10 m tall. common.
