Description:

shrubs form large burls, burls seen to 0.5 m but from size of some clumps, sometimes more than 1 m in diam. leaves dark green above, pale below; corolla pale crimson, basally, apically yellowish-salmon; ripe fruit purple-black. Phenology of specimen: Flower.

páramo and surrounding chaparral and forest.
