Description:

shrub to 2 m. tall. corolla rose-red with mature calyx turning maroon to blue-black; white lobes; wintergreen odor. Phenology of specimen: Flower.

subpáramo & Polylepis forest between 3500-3900 m. páramo starting about 3700 to 3950 m.
