Panama. Veraguas. Summit of Cerro Tute, N of Santa Fé, from trail that begins 0.7 km N of the Escuela Agricola de Alto Piedra. Alt. 1450 m. (4757 ft.)

Description:

Epipetric shrub to 1 m tall. Bracteoles green tinted magenta. Corolla broadly campanulate, succulent, bistratose, green with magenta tint (with age). Locally abundant, only at very top. [DNA; photo; pickled].
Habitat:

Rocky top dominated by Bromeliaceae, Melastomataceae, Ericaceae (5 spp.) and Clusia. Locally abundant, only at very top.
