Description:

Terrestrial shurb to 2.5 m tall; rachis dark wine red; calyx tube dark wine red becoming bright reddish distally; corolla red, lobes whitish within, berry maroon.
Habitat:

Ecotone between cloud forest and paramo. Infrequent.
