Ecuador. Azuay. the eastern Cordillera, 4-6 km N of the village of Sevilla de Oro. Alt. 2730 - 3030 m. (8957 - 9941 ft.)

Description:

Shrub rarely up to 50 cm. Propagating from basal runners. Corolla red campanulate, lobes refflexed, filaments bowed, bright pink with white pubescence, anthers brown, fruits white translucent. ;Flower;Collection 4717B has green corollas and white filaments. Above 3000 m this plant comes into open slopes and páramo areas;Dupe(s) verified by JLL at F, GH, K, MO, NY, P, US (from orig. DUPDISTRIB field). Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.
