Location:

Panama. Chiriquí. Junction of old road with new, just above (N of) Fortuna Dam, 5.6 km N of Sitio de Presa. Alt. 1110 m. (3642 ft.)

Description:

Terrestrial shrub, 1.5 m tall. Leaves slightly bullate, without red color at base of leaf above (as in C. axillaris). Plant with slight odor of wintergreen (as C. quereme). Floral bracts dark rose-red, adpressed to calyx at anthesis and after, not spreading. Corolla white at very base and at throat and lobes, otherwise orange. [photo; pickled].

Habitat:

Disturbed roadside now abandoned.
