Description:

Terrestrial shrub, growing on exposed, steep roadside slopes; branches to 2 m long. Calyx green, angled opposite the lobes; corolla red with white lobes, succulent; mature berry dark purple. .
Habitat:

Wet, steep roadside slopes through montane forest. Scattered but common.
