Description:

terrestrial or epiphytic shrub to 2-2.5 m tall. rachis and pedicels green suffused with red; floral bracts bright dark red, tightly enclosing calyx and corolla.
Habitat:

steep roadsides through disturbed cloud forest. locally common.

Collection Notes: corolla red; mature fruits dark blue black; buds apparently exude small quantity of a white milky, sticky substance
