Description:
Description: Epiphytic shrub (?); mature stems rounded, glabrous. Leaves chartaceous, ovate, 5-12 x 3-7 cm, basally rounded or broadly cuneate, apically rounded and sometimes slightly emarginate, marginally somewhat revolute; plinerved (?) from the base, the midrib slightly impressed above, the lateral nerves long ascending, minutely elevated beneath, reticulate veinlets strongly prominent all over; petiole 5-6 mm long. Inflorescence racemose to subcorymbose, lax, glabrous; rachis 3-4 cm long; pedicels 1-1.5 cm long, glabrous; floral bract seemingly deciduous; bracteoles subulate, deciduous. Flowers with calyx 6-7 mm long, the hypanthium campanulate, glabrous, the lobes deltoid, subacuminate 3 mm long; corolla carnose, subglobose but strongly contracted near the apex, ca. 7 mm long, glabrous, yellowish (fide label ?), shortly lobed; stamens 10, ca. 7 mm long; filaments 1.5 mm long, glabrous, possibly slightly coherent; thecae strongly granular, 4 mm long, abruptly terminating in tubules; tubules connate, ca. 2 mm long, dehiscing by clefts ca. 1 mm long; style fusiform, 7.5 mm long, glabrous. Fruit not seen.
Distribution: Ecuador.
Type: Ecuador. Napo: Canelos, forest, ca. 350 m, 19 Jan 1937 (fl), Schultz-Rhonhof 2126 (holotype, B, unicate, destroyed).
