Discussion:
Type. GUYANA. Pakaraima Mountains, Membaru-Kurupung Trail, locahy frequent in Cunuria forest, 1000 m alt, 29 Oct-4 Nov 1951; scrambler 4 m with arching shoots; flowers red, pointed; Maguire & Fanshawe 32339 (holotype NY). This species is related to O. hispida A. C. Smith, also of Guyana, from which it differs in the long-pubescent leaves, larger corolla and calyx, pedicels bibracteolate at base or below the middle, and often glabrous below the bracteoles, the more numerous lateral nerves of the leaf blades, and the long acuminate leaves. Smith keys out O. hispida under ''anthers opening by oblique clefts" as contrasted with "anthers opening by terminal or essentiaUy terminal pores," but it is obvious in the present species that the pores are obliquely terminal, making it impossible to place them clearly in one or the other category.
