Description:
Species Description - "Vine-like" shrub, mature branches subterete, densely hispid with brownish to reddish-brown hairs 1-2 mm long. Leaves oblong-elliptic, (8-) 10-18(-20.5) X 37 cm, basally rounded or obtuse, apically somewhat abruptly caudate-acuminate, pilose on both surfaces (densely beneath) with brown hairs ca. 1-1.5 mm long, glandular-fimbriate on both surfaces; 5-plinerved from base with midrib and secondary nerves impressed above and raised beneath, reticulate veinlets obscure; petiole subterete, rugose, 5-7 mm long and 2.5-4 mm in diam., hispid as stems. Inflorescence ca. 20-flowered, the flowers restricted to distal 1/3 of inflorescence; rachis subterete, densely pilose, 2.5-3.5 cm long and 4 mm in basal diam. becoming 7 mm in diam. at apex; floral bracts subcoriaceous, conspicuously striate, oblong to obovate, 25-30 X 10-15 mm, apically obtuse or rounded, those of proximal 2/3 of inflorescence subtending sterile nodes, densely pilose dorsally, those of distal 1/3 subtending flowers and becoming continuously less pilose with margins glabrous, lamina of bracts also provided with subspherical, "granular" glands especially dense towards midrib; pedicels subterete, sparsely pilose, 3-4 mm long and 1.5-2 mm in diam.; bracteoles linear-oblong, ca. 7 mm long, margins (seemingly) eglandular and distally ciliate. Flowers: calyx essentially glabrous (except lobe margins), 9-12 mm long; hypanthium obconic and slightly constricted just above base, 3-3.5 mm long; limb cylindric-campanulate 7-8 mm long; lobes narrowly triangular, 4-5 mm long with margins long-ciliate, eglandular, often involute; sinus rounded; corolla not seen (although one style in the packet would suggest a corolla ca. 30 mm long); stamens (from packet) alternately ca. 13 mm and 15 mm long; filaments sparsely pilose on ventral surface, alternately 2.5-3 mm and 5-5.5 mm long; anthers alternately ca. 11 mm and 10 mm long; thecae nearly smooth 3-4 mm long; tubules dehiscing by clefts 3.5-4.5 mm long; style 30 mm long. Berry not seen.

Discussion:
Although no corolla was found with the type collection, the persistent style (30 mm long) would indicate a corolla length of about 29-31 mm. The short stamens (13-15 mm long), clavate rachis, and subcoriaceous striate floral bracts also indicate its placement in subgen. Chlamydantha.Cavendishia corei seems to be most closely related to C. fusiformis, both having minute spherical to ovoid globular glands on the floral bracts. More collections are needed, however, before its affinities can be determined with more certainty.
