Australasian sequestrate fungi 18: <i>Solioccasus polychromus<\/i> gen. &amp; sp. nov., a richly colored, tropical to subtropical, hypogeous fungus. <i>Mycologia<\/i> 105: 888-895.<\/p>\n<p><b><u>Background<\/u><\/b>: <a href=\"https:\/\/sweetgum.nybg.org\/science\/projects\/boletineae\/taxon-details\/?irn=414809\"><i>Solioccasus polychromus<\/i><\/a>, the most brightly colored hypogeous fungus known, is described from Papua New Guinea and Australia (Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory, Cape York and southward in Queensland along the coast and coastal mountains to near Brisbane).<\/p>\n<p>Phylogenetic analysis of nuc-LSU molecular data places it as a sister genus to <i>Bothia<\/i> in the Boletineae, a clade of predominantly ectomycorrhizal boletes.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sweetbay.nybg.org\/science\/projects\/boletineae\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2016\/07\/Solioccasus_partial-2.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Solioccasus: sequestrate gen. nov. in BoletaceaeFrom: Trappe, J.M. et al. 2013.
