Dentinger et al. 2010. Molecular phylogenetics of porcini mushrooms (<i>Boletus<\/i> section <i>Boletus<\/i>) <em>Mol. Phyl. Evol.<\/em> 57: 1276\u20131292.<br \/>\nR.E. Halling et al. 2014. New Porcini (<em>Boletus<\/em> sect. <em>Boletus<\/em>) from Australia and Thailand. <em>Mycologia<\/em> 106: 830\u2013834.<\/p>\n<p><u><b>Background<\/b><\/u>: Dentinger et al. produced a detailed molecular phylogeny of <i>Boletus<\/i> sect. <i>Boletus<\/i>. In that paper they reported the discovery of two taxa expanding the known distribution of the section to Australia and Thailand. The existence of those two taxa represents an ancient phylogenetic connection to the rest of the section. <i>Boletus albobrunnescens<\/i> and <i>B. austroedulis<\/i> were described by Halling et al. (cited above) as new species in section <i>Boletus<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>A portion (redrawn &amp; updated) of the best tree from a Maximum Likelihood search of combined data using RAxML engineered by Dentinger in the paper cited above.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sweetgum.nybg.org\/science\/projects\/boletineae\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2016\/07\/GeneologyRevised.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox\"> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sweetgum.nybg.org\/science\/projects\/boletineae\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2016\/07\/GeneologyRevised.jpg\" \/><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gene Inference Confirms Ancient lineages in Boletus sect.
