The Boletineae, a suborder of Boletales, is treated here to include the mushroom genera assigned to the Boletaceae by Singer (1986). Genera such as Boletinellus<\/i>,\u00a0\u00a0Gyroporus<\/i>, Phlebopus<\/i>, and Suillus<\/i> belong in the Sclerodermatineae<\/i> and the Suillineae, and Gyrodon in Paxillaceae,\u00a0<\/i>based on robust phylogenetic inferences (Binder & Hibbett, 2006). Paxillioid taxa are being updated. Essentially, fleshy mushrooms with pores (rarely lamellae) and divergent trama in the hymenophore are included. In non-technical discussions, this group is sometimes generally referred to as Porcini,<\/u><\/b> Cep<\/span>,<\/b>\u00a0Steinpilz<\/u><\/b> or the Boletes<\/u><\/b>, although the former names are technically used for Boletus<\/i><\/b> in the strict sense (typified by Boletus edulis<\/i><\/b>).<\/p>\n

Additionally, some gasteroid (sequestrate, secotioid, truffle-like) genera appear to belong in the order Boletales and are listed as well.<\/p>\n

Much of the recent generic recognition started with detailed phylogenetic inferences published by Nuhn et al. (2013) and Wu et al. (2014, 2016). Some inferences are robust while others lack support.<\/p>\n
