Additional field work in Australia revealed an additional species previously undescribed:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/sweetgum.nybg.org\/science\/projects\/boletineae\/taxon-details\/?irn=1453260\">I. australis<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Spore ornamentation (irregularly and finely pitted to granulose) and a purple-violet color reaction in dilute KOH solution are traits similar to\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/sweetgum.nybg.org\/science\/projects\/boletineae\/taxon-details\/?irn=603109\">Borofutus<\/a><\/em>, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/sweetgum.nybg.org\/science\/projects\/boletineae\/taxon-details\/?irn=479115\">Rhodactina<\/a><\/em>, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/sweetgum.nybg.org\/science\/projects\/boletineae\/taxon-details\/?irn=478870\">Spongiforma\u00a0<\/a><\/em>(subfam.\u00a0<em>Leccinoideae<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p class=\"ex1\">Molecular phylogenetic inference provides a new perspective on placement of <em><a href=\"https:\/\/sweetgum.nybg.org\/science\/projects\/boletineae\/taxon-details\/?irn=1453251\">I. longipes<\/a><\/em> and <i><a href=\"https:\/\/sweetgum.nybg.org\/science\/projects\/boletineae\/taxon-details\/?irn=1453260\">I. australis<\/a><\/i>\u00a0in subfam. <em>Leccinoideae\u00a0<\/em>in\u00a0the Boletaceae.\u00a0The partial phylogram is based on a <em>rpb2<\/em> dataset (engineered by <b>O. Khmelnitsky<\/b>). The tree topology corresponds to the optimal maximum likelihood tree calculated by RAxML.
